The Genesis (I am verbose so this will be long).
What is Blaq Gurl Moves? Who are we? Why are we (you) here?
Blaq Gurl Moves, LLC is a company of 13, YES, THIRTEEN amazing, beautiful and phenomenal black women of all shades, origin and backgrounds.
For my 35th birthday this year I invited a group of women I admired and had a close bond with to join me for festivities in Napa and Sonoma Wine Country in Northern California and to stay together in an AirBnB so that we could laugh, cook, clean and bond as a group. All of them knew and had a personal relationship with me (whether we met in person or not) but they did not all know nor have personal relationships with everybody else who came.
Now if you have ever planned a trip or even been on a group trip, and especially a large group trip, then you already know you’re probably rolling your eyes right now… lmao.
But what ensued was nothing short of Blaque Gurl Magick!
From “The World’s Longest Toast, Ever!,” to our first dinner and pajama jammy jam, to a great breakfast and morning facial courtesy of Beautiful Amor’e Skincare before a short hike through the forest to see one of the oldest trees in North America (a giant redwood at that), to Coppola’s Vineyard and the amazing relics from his films to a great dinner in Oakland… WE HAD A BLAST!
And it rained, yall. It rained the whole damn time until the departure day. And that day was one of the most beautiful you could imagine.
Having the roots I have, I was raised not to see rain as a bad omen, but as a blessing, because without the rain, nothing can grow nor flourish. Rain will bring abundance and prosperity. It sure did nurture and nourish our bonds.
Out of all of those black women on that trip, not a one complained, was down, was anti-social, none of that.
I personally was able to have one on one time with every woman individually. We all spoke about our goals, our lives and etc. We laughed, we cried (during the toast bc they just made me feel so proud to know and have a deep connection with so many wonderful souls), we laughed some more, we networked, we supported each other, we added social media networks, we ate, we drank, we discussed business, finance, investments and more and most importantly, we became a SISTERHOOD!
High off of that long weekend, the next week I hit the groupchat and asked… “What if we could provide this EXPERIENCE to other black women and we would do so on trips, just like ours, so that people are thrust out of their comfort zones all around and have no choice but to step outside of themselves and their fears and heal, grow, connect and build. In every way, just like we did?”
Every single lady replied… WHEN DO WE START???
That was in February 2019. We received our LLC in April 2019. Every trip has a theme. Every person that comes on our excursions has a purpose to fulfill.
We are practicing group economics, together. You, us, everybody here! We uplift, encourage, love, support, cross-market and etc each other in every way that we can. There is too much out here for us to be selfish. We have to realign with our natural abundance mentality. Chuck the scarcity mentality. Just bc you are doing well, it doesn’t mean that I can’t do well either and vice versa. What I eat will take no food from your mouth. And if we cook together, we’ll actually have more food!
We are here to help each other grow in every way, heal, become healthier in every way, grow wealth, return to our one-ness with nature as the Mother Goddess of the Universe ought to, heal and re-align our spirits and spirituality, network and grow brands, build strong bonds of sisterhood and of course, TRAVEL while doing it all!
We come from every aspect of Mother Africa and her Diaspora. We are every shade from café au lait to deep mahogany.
Whether Afro-American, Afro-Latina, Afro European, African, Afro-Asian, Afro-Caribbean, it doesn’t matter!
This is the sisterhood you didn’t know you needed!
We carry the world on our backs and only we understand this burden, so let’s unite in that sisterhood and pack our bags to travel at the same time.
Whether you are a student, educator, entrepreneur, corporate/legal/medical field boss, techie and everywhere in between or just wanting to be around other black women for inspiration and camaraderie, this is the company FOR YOU by women who are JUST LIKE YOU!
