Matching Family Outfits: Cute or Nah?
It was the 80s. We were on our annual summer vacation. That year was Disney World. We had breakfast at Shoney’s and then we were off to the park.
I couldn’t wait to get to the Magic Kingdom to the “It’s a Small World” ride, my mum’s favourite.
I had to go to the restroom so the entire family split up and everyone went to their respective facilities.
After I was done I didn’t see my mum so I exited to join the others. When I walked outside, I didn’t see anyone. I scanned the crowd, eyes darting left and right. Panic quickly setting in. I could feel my body getting hot, my chest tightening and a million thoughts began racing through my head. I turned in a circle looking for brown skin but I was lost in a sea of white faces.
My eyes began to well up with tears as I gave up hope of ever seeing my family again. And then I heard someone call my name. My head snapped around and my eyes focused on my family, who were sitting on a bench waiting for me.
While it felt like forever, this quick few minutes, that I was, lost could have ended much quicker if perhaps we all had on matching t-shirts.
Is it corny to wear matching clothing?
Is it cute?
Is it simply a way to keep up with the others in your group?
What say you?
