In honour of Women’s History Month, we are highlighting black, female chefs, and caterers.
Brooklyn born chef, Judy Anderson has been cooking professionally for 17 years. She got her first cooking job while in high school and never looked back. She specializes in “slow cooking” comfort foods/meals.
She is currently a sous chef at Tannat Wine and Cheese but she also provides catering to private events in the five boroughs.
Brooklyn native Claudine Wilson started her culinary journey on the business side. Taking the reins of her mum’s hustle, she became fascinated with the science behind food creation and this entrepreneur became a self-taught caterer, birthing Bites BK which services the five boroughs with their Caribbean tapas.
While Trini born Kizzy Short is currently working on her culinary degree, she has been cooking professionally for 14 years. Inspired by her mom, who studied to be a chef, the love for the culinary arts came honest.
Specializing in Caribbean Fusion presenting traditional flavor profiles in non-traditional ways she can also prepare just about any cuisine you desire.

Latoya Martin is the heart and soul of Toya’s Table. And though the business is but two years old, this Brooklyn girl has been cooking since she was FIVE with her southern grandmother.

With southern and West Indian roots, Brook Baker is in the kitchen cooking everything! She began her catering business only a few short years ago in 2018 and has quickly made a name for herself.
Specializing in American gourmet, Asian, South American, Southern, and Caribbean cuisine, you’ll be sure to love it and come back for more. Inspired by Julia Childs, she started experimenting with a new dish a week when she was a kid, and she finally took a leap of faith and enrolled in culinary school to follow her passion as an adult.
